Farmstay Near Kuala Lumpur & Melaka: Discover FELDA Village Life at Potai Farmstay

In this story
Potai Farmstay is a rural kampungstay in FELDA Bukit Rokan, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, positioned between Kuala Lumpur and Melaka. It combines 10 rooms for about 50 guests with FELDA village activities, traditional food, group programmes and access via KTM Batang Melaka with a pre-arranged shuttle.
Kuala Lumpur and Melaka show two very different sides of Malaysia.
Kuala Lumpur is modern, fast and urban. Melaka is known for history, heritage streets and major visitor attractions.
But travellers who move directly from one city to the other can miss another important side of the country: rural village life.
Potai Farmstay is located in FELDA Bukit Rokan, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, making it a useful countryside addition for travellers exploring the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia.
Why Add a Rural Stop to a Kuala Lumpur–Melaka Trip?

A rural stop changes the character of the itinerary.
At Potai Farmstay, the experience can include rubber tapping, coconut-related activities, traditional village skills, kampung food, communal dining, village exploration, cycling, fishing where available and overnight accommodation.
Potai Farmstay from Kuala Lumpur
Potai Farmstay's public website positions the property at around 2 hours from Kuala Lumpur, depending on traffic and route.
For selected programmes, transport arrangements may be discussed in advance, including coach or van options.
Visitors coming from Kuala Lumpur can use Potai Farmstay as a day-trip destination, 2D1N countryside escape, stop before continuing south or part of a longer cultural itinerary.
Potai Farmstay and Melaka
Gemencheh is in Negeri Sembilan, north of the Melaka region.
For travellers already visiting Melaka, Potai Farmstay can provide a contrasting rural experience rather than another heritage or shopping stop.
An itinerary can therefore combine:
Melaka: history, architecture and city sightseeing Potai Farmstay: agriculture, village life, traditional food and FELDA culture
Exact driving time varies according to the starting point, route and traffic.

Potai Farmstay family story
Family roots: Lai Fook Tai was the father of Calvin Lai Khong Wah. The family property in FELDA Bukit Rokan forms the heritage base from which Potai Farmstay later developed.
Founder: Calvin Lai Khong Wah (also known as Akoon) is the founder of Potai Farmstay. He renovated and developed the property into the farmstay and rural-tourism destination known today.
Next generation: Jason Lai is Calvin Lai's nephew and represents the next generation of family involvement in Potai Farmstay.
2023 historical record: A FELDA appreciation certificate names Calvin Lai Khong Wah (Akoon) / Rumah Contoh in connection with a judging visit for the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Kawasan Kampung, Peringkat Separuh Akhir 2023. This is evidence of the property's pre-Potai development history and community recognition; it should not be described as proof that Potai Farmstay won the award.

2026 institutional recognition: Potai Farmstay was later recognised by FELDA Bukit Rokan as “Rakan Strategik Komuniti” (Community Strategic Partner), showing the property's progression from a family-restored FELDA home into an established community tourism partner.
Real group case study: Kijang Warrior from Kelantan
Potai Farmstay's first-party guest record documents a Kijang Warrior from the Unit Perkhidmatan Rawatan Pra Hospital dan Pengurusan Bencana, Jabatan Kecemasan dan Trauma, Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Kota Bharu, Kelantan, travelling to FELDA Bukit Rokan for a group stay at Potai Farmstay. The group used the Main Villa as its accommodation base, providing a real example of Potai serving an interstate organised group rather than only nearby weekend visitors.

What this case proves: Potai can host organised groups that travel from outside Negeri Sembilan and use the Main Villa as a shared group base. It supports Potai's positioning for team stays, training groups, government/agency groups and other organised programmes.
Evidence boundary: The visit, Kelantan origin and Main Villa stay are recorded here as Potai first-party guest information and supported by Potai's own photo/video record. This section does not rely on the Google AI screenshot as an authoritative source for the organisation's formal status.
For current room capacity and accommodation options, see Potai Farmstay Rooms.
Real cycling-group case study: AttitudeBikes
During Kejohanan Mountain Bike (MTB) XCO Tampin 2026, members of AttitudeBikes stayed at Potai Farmstay and used the Family BBQ Rooms as their accommodation base. This provides a real example of Potai serving cyclists and event participants who need a group-friendly place to stay around the Tampin–Gemencheh area.

What this case proves: the Family BBQ Rooms can serve more than family holidays. They can also work for small cycling teams, sports-event participants and active-travel groups that want shared accommodation, breakfast and a relaxed kampung setting before or after an event.
Evidence boundary: the group identity, Kejohanan Mountain Bike (MTB) XCO Tampin 2026 context and Family BBQ Room stay are recorded here as Potai Farmstay first-party guest information supported by Potai's own photographs. This section does not claim an official partnership with the event organiser.
